Progress Report - 11/22

Hi everybody!

Nothing too crazy in this update - mostly a lot of less sexy coding work or scenes driving the plot (there is one!) going on. Since the last update, I've come up with some better ideas on how to start the game and give the player some direction. I always had the idea of incorporating a big kind of "Spring Break" style trip into the game (even though it takes place just after graduation) and I think I finally figured out a good way to get all of the characters I wanted onto that trip.

The original concept, for fun, would be that Erisa would simply encounter a wheel of fortune style promotion while walking down the street. In midway fashion, she would be heckled into playing and would win the trip. But this didn't really give me the flexibility I wanted to get characters like Chrissy there as well, so I've come up with a better idea. I may also try to incorporate the wheel game later on, or maybe in another project later on.

Some other ideas I've had include concepts for some of the other girls you'll meet on the trip - one of which I'd like to make a professional cheerleader who's a bit quiet about her profession, but maybe likes to break out the outfit in bed. I'd also like to set up something where the player has access to a cell phone and can use the item to do a sort of tinder thing while on the trip to find some other ladies to hook up with. Not only will this give me the opportunity to have Erisa exchange nudes and sexy pictures with other girls.

I'm still trying to flesh out some major plot points, but I've also been having a lot of fun developing some of these new characters and rendering them out. I may hopefully have some test renders of the cheerleader character to share next week. Also, while I won't be sharing any text from it, I've been working on the first sex scene between Chrissy and Erisa. I'd say it's maybe 30% complete, including images and text/coding.

Better Know a Roommate - Introducing Chrissy!

You may have noticed another character featured prominently on the blog's wallpaper that I haven't written about just yet. Mostly this is because I only recently came up with the visual for Amanda and I've been working on some concepts and scenes involving her and Erisa - but more on that later.

Chrissy is the girl with the black ponytail on the left, and will feature as an important character in the game - with some additional or reduced importance based on your choices. Chrissy is Erisa's roommate of the past three years. They've partied together, studied together, had fun and looked out for each other along the way. And maybe along the way they've even gotten drunk and made out a few times, who's judging?

But they're about to face the real reality that comes with leaving college and moving home after graduation, and both of the girls are dealing with the possibility that they may fade out of each other's lives as they grow up. For both Chrissy and Erisa, this has stirred up the question of whether or not their playful make-out sessions have ever meant anything more - something they've never been able to confront before for fear of spoiling their live-in relationship.

Both characters will have opportunities to work towards taking their relationship from "friends" to "friends with benefits," and their living arrangement will make Chrissy one of Erisa's first potential romantic partners in the game.

So, aside from her relationship with Erisa, who is Chrissy?

She and Erisa met in a Freshman Geology class and hit it off with a shared sense of dirty humor. They both lived in the dorms that year and spent a lot of time hanging out and partying together. Even though they almost failed their shared class (and studying together never seemed to help), they became great friends and decided to move into an apartment together the following year.

Chrissy's a Pre-Law major and despite her poor grades in Geology, she's been on the Dean's List every other semester she's been enrolled. She really doesn't want to leave the town and while she's putting out applications for law school, she figures she may as well stay in the apartment they share... even if she hasn't figured out how to support her dwelling financially.

She has a very frank, but jovial personality and her blunt honesty tends to get her in trouble with people other than Erisa, which, along with her extensive studying, has probably limited her circle of friends. She also seems particularly fit, though Erisa hasn't really seen her work out. She seems to show this off by walking around the apartment without pants some of most of nearly all of the time.

She's had a few relationships over the three years Erisa's known her, including flings and threesomes with both guys and girls (but never with Erisa). She's been dating a guy, but Erisa hasn't seen him around in a while, so who knows what's going on.

I've been working diligently on renders this week and have found some tricks to getting better images faster that will hopefully keep me going at a steady pace. I've also had some breakthrough ideas on how to advance the story past the initial stage of Erisa and Chrissy's apartment. I'm sure my blogging will probably slow down as its newness wears down, but keep your eyes peeled and I'll try to post something new at least once a week!

And, since we're showing off Chrissy, here are a few test shots I did of her and Erisa together in my early days of figuring out Daz:

Spicy Content & Thinking About People

So, just to tantalize a little more (and because I've figured Blogger/Blogspot out a little better in the past few minutes), I wanted to share a few 18+ premises and images to give you an idea of what you can expect.

I decided to mimic (read: full on imitate) a little bit of a mechanic GoblinBoy used in Tesliss Equation: the "think about" mechanic. In Tesliss Equation, this mechanic allowed the player to get some additional details that were mostly non-essential, but highly colorful around the two main love interests. I really liked the feature and decided that it's a great way to build in background in an unobtrusive manner. Sure, you'll still get it spoon-fed to you when it's necessary to move the game along, but I also wanted to pepper in some background that informs Erisa's experience an opinions of some of the people in the world she already knows.

The first premise I ran across was Erisa's first crush and her discovery of her own sexuality and first sexual experience. I decided to write this into the background of a character (Abby) who I haven't yet decided to include or exclude from the main story (the idea being that she attends a different school), but who pops up as a vivid memory connected to that coming of age experience.

I also decided to position the game at a point where Erisa's last real relationship is well over. She has some strong thoughts about her ex, but like most of us, still remembers her as her last source of passion and sex. Appropriately, thinking about Amanda will conjure up some of those images for the player and, considering I've decided to make Amanda a bit more of a "wild" character with more financial advantages than most broke college students (read: rich dad pays for everything), I thought it would be fun to explore the dynamic between the hard-working, but enamored Erisa and the lazy party girl, Amanda, in some of those memories.

Oh, and they also just look hot together:

If you're worried that all you'll get is memories, don't worry. I've decided that it'll be particularly interesting (and hot!) to include Amanda as a key character in the game, and I think she'll add a lot to the plot as it develops.

Coming Soon(ish)!

Erisa's Summer is an AIF game I've been working on in my spare time. The game will be written in ADRIFT (I tried my hand at TADS3 and it's just too confusing to make the things I want to work, work) and will be graphically supported with IRAY renders created with Daz Studio (and some photoshopping).

The game will place the player in the proverbial shoes of Erisa - a recent college grad looking for some "fun" on her last summer of freedom before adulthood. The game will begin with Erisa collecting her diploma while looking for an opportunity to get away and indulge in some real "me" time and find a few flings along the way. I have an idea for a deeper, overarching plot that will carry you through, but I don't want to give too much away up-front!

This game will be a little more unique than some others since I intend for it to be fully centered around lesbian content, with little to no hetero/male-included scenes (and I'm saying "little" on the off-chance that I think it would be interesting to have Erisa walk in on or stumble upon a hetero sex session). I've always wanted a game like this, and though a few have come close-ish (Zoe's Temptations is a personal favorite as it features a mostly female-leaning bisexual lead... but she still bangs a lot of dudes), I've never seen it done in earnest.

I've started this blog to share some of the renders that get kicked out along the way and to keep myself moving since working on a game as involved as I plan on making it is taking some time - especially since it's my first crack at something like this!

So, if you're reading, feel free to drop a note of encouragement, but please realize that this is a far from full-time focus for me, and something that will come along in bits, pieces, and maybe even waves!
